fest time.

Craft lovers, food lovers, music lovers and art lovers unite. It is that time of the year again for the Hoboken Music and Art Festival. It's a free event that takes place once every fall and spring. Admission is free and fun times are abundant. Really though, I went last fall for the first time and had a grand 'ol time.

This year's spring festival is Sunday May 4th from 11-6 and takes place on the Washington St. (from Oberver Highway all the way to 7th St.).

The Festival is awesome because it's such a huge outlet for local artists of every sort (candle-makers, painters, photographers, sculpers, etc) to showcase their work, and hopefully make some profit. Last year, I was able to pick up some painted pritnts from a man who was probably selling close to 500 different prints (I got a sweet neon Kurt Cobain and a more mellow fallish-tree kind of thing - which look great on my purplest walls). Everyone was so talented and there was so much art I would love to have purchased minus the fact it didnt' fit into my sweet college student budget.

The festival is also a great place for local musicians (some you many know) to come onto the scene. Here's the line-up:

Observer Highway Stage:
Noon - 12:50pm Sensational Soul Cruisers
1:10pm - 1:50pm The Fave
2:10pm - 2:50pm Krystal (Hoboken's own)
3:10pm - 3:55pm The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn
4:30pm - 5:45pm Micky Dolenz of the Monkees

Third Street Stage:
12:00pm - 12:40pm
Mr. Taxi Trix - Juggling, circus comedy & more
12:50pm - 1:15pm Hannah Valente sings Hannah Montana
1:25pm - 2:10pm Mr. Taxi Trix
2:40pm - 3:10pm Fuzzy Lemons
3:30pm - 4:00pm Star Fish
4:15pm - 4:45pm Fuzzy Lemons
5:00pm - 5:30pm Star Fish

Sixth Street Stage:
12:30pm - 1:15pm Gene D. Plumber - tex-mex-a-billy
1:30pm - 215pm Michael Patrick's Ring of Fire - A tribute to Johnny Cash
2:30pm - 315pm Kate Jacobs
3:30pm - 415pm Zydecol
4:30pm - 4:45pm Save the Youth Kids - Dance performance by Hoboken's STY Academy
5:00pm - 6:00pm Ray Medina

And, but of course, there's an endless amount of festival food (cheesesteaks, zeppolis, candy apples, pickles - you know, the usual). Oh oh and there's rides!

I say you check it out!
